In the event a child runs a fever over 101 degrees, the parent will be notified immediately and the child will be sent home. When the child has been fever-free, without the use of Tylenol, for 24 hours, the child may return to LPL. Parents will be notified if a contagious illness is affecting children in the school by notice on the parent computer.

  • HOW DOES LPL KNOW WHERE THE CHILDREN ARE AT ALL TIMES?
The Center Director makes “rounds” checking classrooms throughout the day. Each classroom maintains Attendance Sheets as well as Child Tracking Sheets which track a child’s location whenever a move is made, i.e. home to school, between classrooms, classroom to bus/bus to classroom and every location change on field trips. The Director takes attendance of the entire school at 10:00 a.m. every morning and utilizes video monitoring of every classroom throughout the day. Our electronic child check-in/out system records when children are dropped off and picked up and by whom.

  • WHAT IS YOUR PROCEDURE FOR RESPONDING TO SUCH EMERGENCIES AS A LOST CHILD, TORNADOS, and FIRES?
In the unlikely event a child is lost, the parents and authorities will be immediately notified. Each school maintains a current “Disaster Preparedness” manual specific to their location with appropriate staff training for Fire/Tornado/Lock-Down/Active Shooter/Shelter in place/Evacuation. Fire Drills are conducted monthly and tornado drills are conducted quarterly, insuring staff and children are prepared in the event of an emergency.

  • HOW IS MY CHILD SUPERVISED DURING SPECIAL EVENTS?
We have many safety procedures in place to ensure the safety of the children during special events.
    • For field trips away from LPL we require Day Camp children to wear highly visible LPL tee shirts. For Preschool aged children, we strongly encourage parents to purchase our LPL tee shirts as well.
    • We provide preschool age children attending fieldtrips with a brightly colored breakaway lanyard including school information and phone number. The lanyard is highly visible, and in the unlikely event that a child becomes separated from the class, it is easy to identify the group they belong with.
    • We provide preschool children attending field trips with walking ropes . The ropes have padded handles and the children are taught to hold the rope handle with the teacher as they move from location to location so they do not inadvertently stray from the group.
    • Class counts are taken anytime children move from location to location including between school and vans/buses, and every location change on field trips.
    • As always, we adhere to the state-mandated student/child ratios. If the event is attended outside of LPL, we often increase the number of staff to children ratio, if we feel the situation warrants it. Many times the facility being visited requires a certain student/staff ratio. We will adhere to this ratio as long as it is not below the state mandated student/staff ratio for the age group and it is not below LPL standards.
    • Parents are required to sign their child up for each field trip on the field trip permission slip (with the exception of summer day camp) and all Transportation and Emergency forms must be current.

  • DOES LPL HAVE SEATBELTS IN ITS VEHICLES AND DO YOU REQUIRE THEIR USE?
All LPL vehicles are equipped with seatbelts. All occupants of the vehicle are required to wear seatbelts any time the vehicle is in motion. Tuition will be billed on the first working day of each month for those families who choose to pay once a month. Tuition will be billed every Monday for those families who choose to pay weekly. Payment is due on Monday of each week for those who pay weekly and on the first of each month for the one-time monthly tuition. Credit/debit cards will be automatically charged on this schedule.

  • DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR DAYS MY CHILD DOES NOT ATTEND LPL?
Every family is given one week of their contracted weeks of vacation each year based on their enrollment date. These “free” days may be used for any non-attendance day and may be used for five consecutive days or for five individual days scattered throughout the year. In the event a family has more than one child, all children must be gone to receive the free day. These days may not be used when a child is in attendance. In addition to the allotted vacation days, LPL allows an enrolled family to pay half their tuition for any calendar week (M-F only) in which they are gone for the entire week.. Half tuition may be used for any full weeks a child is absent. However, if a child attends any portion of a week, full tuition will be charged. This is a very liberal time off policy and if used wisely in conjunction with vacation days, families can save on their yearly tuition costs. Please see your center Director for more information on vacation days and half tuition.

Every effort will be made to accommodate every child, however, in the event a child is a danger to themselves, other children or staff, parents may be asked to seek other child care arrangements immediately.
